10 Tips To Grow Your Natural Hair This Winter

Hair Crush <3

No Time To Watch The Video --
Check Out Tips Below

1. Low Manipulation Styles -Wash n Go's, Twist outs, braid outs, ponytails, and even protective styles don't require to much strain on the hair and can last for awhile.

2. Satin or Silk Scarves/Hats -Be sure to protect your natural hair before bed with a silk/satin scarf or pillow to reduce shedding. Also, it is cold outside and you may need to wear a hat so make sure the one you buy has a stain isolation so the hat won't damage your hair. Buy a cute one here

3. Co-Wash -Everyone knows washing your hair with shampoo strips the hair of its natural oils so I would definitely invest in a cleansing conditioner that moisturizes while it clarifies the hair.  Some good brands to try include: Shea Moisture, Camille Rose, and Mi'chelle Organics.

4. Detangle Hair w/ Wide-Tooth Comb - To reduce shedding always detangle hair while moisturized or wet. Use a wide tooth comb to ensure to ride your hair of knots.

5. Find Out Your Hair's Porosity Level -You can either have low, medium or high porosity level hair. This determines how well your hair retains moisture.

6. Keep a Clean Scalp -Wash your hair at least once a week or once every two weeks to reduce product build up in hair.

7. Deep Condition -The cold winter air can cause your hair to dry out so make sure you deep condition more often to reduce breakage and damage.

8. NO Heat ! -Reduce the use of hair dryers and flat irons. Heat can permanently alter your curl pattern and can stunt hair growth. Make sure to use heat on hair sparingly and always use a heat protectant !

9. Get a Trim- Trim your hair as needed. If you see you have a lot of split ins or damage just get a new cut and you'll be amazed what it can do for you.

10. Be Consistent -Create a hair routine to maintain length and moisture

3 Reasons Why All Millennial Women of Color Should Go Natural !

Ladies ! Are you tired of shelling out stacks for extensions & weaves !? Well, its never been an easier solution...wearing YOUR own hair. How easy is that ! *pun intended lol*

Women of color all over the world have been embracing their naturally curly hair that's been oppressed for so long. The natural movement gained support through You-tubers/bloggers like CurlyNikki and AfroBella to name a few. You may have even seem the movement appropriated by designers like Marc Jacobs ( calling bantu knots , mini buns)  and even celebs like Kylie Jenner rocking braids/locs. Many of my YouTube Friends are natural and it has even inspired a weave junkie like me to rock my curls.

Here are 3 Major Reasons To Rock Your Natural Mane !

  1.  It's Inexpensive - How many of ya girlfriends shell out over $400+ for weaves/extensions every few months !? That adds up to thousands of dollars a year for HAIR ! Think about your goals , this money could've been used to pursue your dreams or even a down payment on a house or car. Not to even mention most of these hair companies are not even black owned so you'll never see that money back in your community smh. Natural hair products are usually cheap (10-50$ at the most) and can be found at a local drugstore. Even getting your natural hair done at a salon is cheaper than an install.
  2. Shows Confidence- Rocking your mane proudly shows you are confident in who you are naturally and don't need to put on a facade to feel beautiful. A woman with natural hair demand respect and attention when she enters room because she doesn't need the extra frills and doesn't blend in with the sheep !
  3. Versatile The beauty of natural hair is that it can be worn many ways. From straight to curly to rods and twist , this hair does it all.  There has never been more reasons to embrace YOU !

Powerful ! Dr. Umar Johnson Sits Down With The Breakfast Club

(Left to Right: Charlamagne, Dr.Umar Johnson, Angela Yee, & DJ Envy)

Are ya'll ready for the knowledge Dr. Umar Johnson is bout to put  on ya brain today?

Well, If ya not get ready because this brother is going to break down the systematic structure of race, class and the tactics used to divide and conquer melanated peoples. He also speaks about his foundation to build a school for young, black men & women to teach them about their history along with math, science, etc. Umar's philosophy is that people of color need to be taught separately to really grasp the information. This is similar to private schools that separate children based on race or religion. There is a Go Fund Me page for the school if you would like to donate here.
